BA2 Research Project (2012)

In groups of four, we had to research and analyse the links between fashion and architectural design. Identifing inspirational practitioners in both fields and consider how one form of practice influences the other. A starting point was to list vocabulary, elements and processes common to both.
We then applied our findings to the design and making of a paper garment. Beginning by testing alternative methods of creating forms using paper and thread only, considering how the paper can be folded, twisted wrapped etc to appear more three-dimensional and also considering the potential of repeat components. Also considering how these paper forms could relate to the human body (wrapping, protecting, revealing etc).
These images show my group's brief presentation of our research and concept, from the introduction week.
